The African National Congress urged Saturday that international sanctions continue against South Africa's white-minority government, even as the European Community voted to lift its 4-year-old ban on new investment in South Africa.
The membership of the ANC, rejecting earlier advice from its own leader, adopted a resolution on sanctions at the black nationalist organization's first conference inside South Africa in 31 years.
