On Oct. 6, about 30 residents of South Bethlehem and 75 employees of the General Electric Co.'s Plastics operation in Selkirk will turn vacant land into a large playground area for youngsters, the first ever in that quiet, rural area of town.
"It is truly a community project, a wonderful idea," said David Austin, administrator of the town's Parks and Recreation Department. "GE is contributing $10,000 for equipment as well as having designed the playground and the employees are volunteering their own time to help build the playground."
