Seven servicemen from local communities were among those who participated in the rescue evacuation, Operation Sharp Edge, of non-combatants from Liberia.
They are:
*Marine Lance Cpl. Michael J. Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Butler, 6 White Oak Path, Milton, participated in the operation whileserving with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit of Camp Lejeune, N.C.
*Navy Airman Apprentice William D. Cunningham, son of Patricia D. Cunningham Sr., 6 Carlyle Court, Ballston Lake; Airman Kirk O'Neill, son of Arthur A. O'Neill, Rural Route 1, Nassau; Petty Officer 3rd Class Michael P. Polacko, son of ...
