The Albany Public Schools should reduce the number of students in full-time special education classes within five years, according to a recommendation approved by a Board of Education committee Thursday.
The Strategic Plan Steering Committee called for a series of steps, including hiring a consultant to review existing placements, to increase the number of special education students who spend all or part of the day in regular education classrooms.
