Albany's yellow brick road won't take you to the Emerald City in the Land of Oz. In fact, it won't take you past the small area of Kent Street between West Lawrence and North Allen streets.
On nearby North Allen and Bradford streets, bumpy pavement has given way to blacktop, just as other roads once paved with bricks or granite stones have been resurfaced with concrete and asphalt.
The number of brick and granite stone roads - especially yellow ones with herringbone patterns interspersed with the rectangular design - has dwindled over the years. The same cannot be said of the affection Kent Street neighbors ...
