Evergreen Country Club pro Peter Baxter hit a bunker shot that was worth about $100 an inch Tuesday.
Baxter hit out of a bunker to within 16 inches of the cup and made the ensuing par putt on the third hole of a playoff to beat Kevin Hughes in the Ping Northeastern New York PGA Stroke Play Championship at Taconic Golf Club.
It was the first major championship for Baxter, 29, a teaching pro at Evergreen. He earned $3,600. Hughes, the pro at Baker's Driving Range in Saratoga Springs, collected $1,920 for second, so Baxter's bunker shot was worth about $100 an inch.
