Michael Blumenfeld has been named vice president of public relations for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield in the insurer's New York offices.
Blumenfeld was formerly senior vice president of marketing and corporate affairs for the Kansas Power and Light Co. Inc.
In his new position, Blumenfeld said he intends to educate the public about the health insurer.
Prior to Kansas Power and Light, Blumenfeld was associate vice president of public affairs at Harvard University. He received an undergraduate degree from Harvard College and master's in business from Harvard Graduate School.
