When John Velie was doing summer theater 20 years ago at the Academy of Holy Names campus, he was able to buy an old barn for $100. That gave him enough lumber to build an elaborate set for "Moby Dick."
"I wish I could do the same today," Velie laments in discussing his production of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting For Godot" which opened this past week on the same campus.
"We lost our $12,000 grant from Albany County this year," Velie says, referring to the money that he used in past seasons for his Shakespeare In The Park troupe, created in 1983 as Shakespeare On The Plaza to do plays on the Terrace at the State ...
