The trip to Mars does not go well. Plagued by problems with their spaceship and the stress of a 49 million-mile voyage, the crew is tense and tired.
Then it happens.
Two astronauts, one American and one Soviet, begin quarreling. Soon a fight breaks out. The American grabs a knife and tries to stab the Soviet before other members of the international crew separate the two.
Now the crew faces a dilemma. Should the American be charged with a crime? If so, what kind of crime? And which system of justice - U.S. or Soviet - should take precedence?
