The State University of New York system has signed a contract with a Massachusetts computer firm valued at $30 million to $50 million that will link 17 campuses electronically, officials said Tuesday. The contract with Digital Equipment Corp. of Maynard, Mass., allows each campus to replace outdated equipment with a central VAX 6300/6400 computer capable of administrative, research, and academic applications, SUNY's Associate Vice Chancellor of Information Technology Charles Blunt said.
