The article by Mr. Robert Whitaker "Animal rights - or wrongs?" is not only blatantly biased reporting but is full of half- truths, misinformation and falsehoods.
To begin with the half-truth relating to the polio vaccine. It is true that the polio vaccine would not be available without animal research, but it is false to think that the vaccine eliminated polio. The polio epidemic was already on a sharp decline in the years immediately preceding the introduction of the vaccine. And in Europe where there never was any widespread vaccination program the disease disappeared at the same rate and to the same degree that it did in the ...
