The specialty chemical market in the U.S. saw a mixed bag of demand in the third quarter and several major consolidations and spin-offs that will impact buyers' supply going forward.
Specialties maker Rohm & Haas in Philadelphia reported strong demand growth in the third-quarter and increased selling prices nearly across the board. In its third-quarter earnings statement, the company said, "Despite some evidence of slowing in the building and construction market in North America, demand across our key markets still remains strong."
