Hospitals usually like to make splashy announcements when they buy state-of-the-art equipment. But at Leonard Hospital on the northern edge of Troy, they have purchased a machine that a cardiologist there concedes merely puts the hospital in the middle of the pack.
Nonetheless, the new echocardiogram machine should mean a lot to this city's patients who suffer from heart disease, Dr. Jorge Constantino said. He said it will spare them trips to Albany - by ambulance, if they are an inpatient - and long waits for a crucial diagnosis.
