A Tehran newspaper said today that the foreign hostages held in Lebanon should be freed because they are being used as a propaganda tool against Iran.
It was the first known statement by an Iranian newspaper advocating the release of all the captives.
The English-language Tehran Times said in an editorial that freeing the hostages was in line with Islamic and humanitarian principles, according to excerpts carried by the official Islamic Republic News Agency.
