Problems at Kings County Hospital, where doctors could not save the life of a Hasidic Jew stabbed during racial riots, are a sample of the troubles at hospitals nationwide, a report released Tuesday concluded.
"First and foremost is the inadequacy of the American health care system," wrote Stanley H. Lowell, a lawyer asked by Mayor David Dinkins to study the Aug. 20 death of Yankel Rosenbaum at Kings County Hospital.
