It's no secret that breast-feeding is the best form of nutrition for a newborn baby. Even companies that manufacture baby formula say so, according to Catherine Bertini, assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The only trouble is, low income women may not have gotten the message about breast-feeding. In fact, they may be getting the wrong message entirely, said Bertini, who was recently in Albany for a meeting of people who run the state's Women, Infants and Children nutrition program, known as WIC.
