Washington County wants Albany's trash.
In a possible deal that Albany officials confirmed they are studying, Washington County is trying to solve a huge trash shortage at a new incinerator by taking trash from ANSWERS and dumping the ash back in Albany's dump.
Albany Public Works Commissioner George Nealon said he received a one-page letter on the idea from Washington County DPW Superintendent Kenneth Wheeler, and forwarded it to Mayor Thomas M. Whalen III, who is apparently still considering the proposal. Whalen could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
