The average New York deer that has been converted into steaks and chops usually renders about 90 pounds of edible meat.
So what does that mean to the average hunter? What it means is that anyone who has 90 pounds of venison tucked away in a freezer at the conclusion of the hunting season is either a very good hunter or very lucky.
Even the most experienced deer hunters may not score every year. Sometimes they'll pass up smaller bucks in hopes of getting something bigger, and sometimes they don't see anything at all. Yet every year they have expenses.
