As we note the number of farmers in our midst rapidly becoming fewer and fewer (1,000 per year average New York state loss in the last decade), with suburbia extending further and further into the country, have you ever wondered if the time will come when there are not enough farmers left to plant and harvest the crops needed to sustain our growing population?
There are at least a few of us wondering why, with our present concern about protecting our fragile environment and eco system, we seem to have overlooked the importance of maintaining and encouraging a viable agriculture.
