Jewish organizations that didn't want to share a hotel with Jews for Jesus had a constitutional right to pressure a Catskills resort into canceling the group's reservations, a federal judge decided Tuesday.
U.S. District Judge Richard Owen of Manhattan ruled in a case whose events date back to 1987, when Jews for Jesus planned to hold its annual meeting at the Stevensville Country Club in Liberty, Sullivan County.
Leaders of the many Jewish groups that frequented the hotel were upset with the arrangements. One rabbi was quoted in court papers as saying Jews for Jesus "harms basic religious interests of our ...
