Ever since the state's Department of Environmental Conservation announced the news that it released five young adult timber rattlesnakes in a remote area of Orange County, people have suddenly developed a fascination for the slithering beast.
One Greene County resident was recently bitten by a bandit rock rattlesnake and almost died when he tried to treat the bite himself. The snake, which is indigenous to Texas and Arizona, was a pet of a friend, and the victim, Yuacoo Pessack, thought the reptile had been devenomized.
Even my son has gotten in on the craze. Recently he called to say he just purchased an albino ...
