For allergy sufferers, this has been a spring and summer of worse-than-usual discontent.
"We've been blessed, or cursed, with a very vigorous pollen season this year, and now ragweed seems to be coming on very strong," said Dr. David Shulan of Certified Allergy Consultants.
In early summer and midsummer, molds, grass and tree pollens are the culprits that can cause eyes to itch and noses to run. These three agitators not only had vigorous seasons but stayed at high levels into early August, giving people little reprieve before ragweed began releasing its pollen into the air around mid-August.
