"Unbelievable," said E.J. Cardish after missing a short putt for par on the 17th hole at the Country Club of Troy Sunday.
Cardish was reacting to missing his putt. But his word was a perfect way to describe the windup of the 48th annual Troy Invitational that had Jim Welch of Winding Brook winning the championship with a 2 and 1 victory over Troy member Cardish.
Welch was the last player to get in the 16-man field during the qualifying round Friday. And he needed a par putt on the third playoff hole to win the spot from two other players.
