Reacting to a recent announcement by Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield that it is dropping group coverage for more than 100,000 members of professional and trade associations, Blue Shield of Northeastern New York said it would tighten up its own membership requirements.
Those restrictions would be especially tough for former clients of Empire, the nation's largest non-profit health insurer.
