Some people may think that with the opening of New York's spring turkey-hunting season, those of us who enjoy having fish for dinner are all wet. But the month of May has always belonged to the fishermen.
The streams are in better shape, water temperatures are more in tune with trout fishing, and the opening of the pike and pickerel season broadens the horizon.
Fishing for northern pike, walleye or pickerel has always been a challenge. They hit hard, fight like the devil, and depending on how they are cooked, taste great.
