You've met the butler; he's taken your suit to get pressed. You open a bottle of mineral water - no, two, they're free - and made a few local phone calls - gratis, as well. Read the newspaper; that's a freebie, too.
Well, not exactly free. The cost is $450 per night at the soon-to-be most expensive hotel in New York, the refurbished St. Regis.
"The international traveler has told us price is no object as long as the value and service are there," said Peter Tischmann, managing director of the 87-year-old Manhattan landmark. "We are trying to create an intimate feel throughout."
