Your article, "Irish-Americans learning Gaelic, for culture and fun," (March 17) unfortunately contained some incorrect information about this language.
According to one person quoted, "English is derived from the Latin, so (Gaelic) has no connection to any of the European languages."
In fact, neither English nor Gaelic are derived from Latin, but both are related to it. English is a Germanic language (most closely related to German, Dutch, and the Scandinavian languages) and Gaelic is a Celtic language. Two other Celtic languages that are closely related to Gaelic are Welsh ...
