Bronislaus Gill, the four-year proprietor of Stuyvesant Liquors, doesn't even consider the possibility of competition from the megamall on the other side of the Northway.

"You couldn't put a liquor store there," said the tenant of Guilderland's outdoor Stuyvesant Plaza, commenting on the indoor Crossgates Mall. "You couldn't put a flower shop there. A laundry. You'd buy a bottle, or pick up your laundry, and kill yourself carrying them back to your car."
