If it was not the clean, successful production Kevin Rooney had hoped for, at least Monday night's professional boxing card at the Knickerbocker Arena was entertaining - in a perversely humorous sort of way.
Six fights were reduced to four and a half. Delays, faulty equipment and flab were the order of the night. The crowd was less than anticipated, and the promoters lost money.
Nevertheless, Tuesday morning, Rooney - who has a remarkable ability to come up smiling after getting kicked in the teeth - was talking about his next show, maybe sometime in April. He was talking about boxing, the sport he loves.
