The final lineup included a beagle, a rottweiler and an old English sheepdog.
But after carefully looking them over, Judge LaMar Mathis decided that a champion Lhasa apso, born and raised in the Capital District, best conformed to breed standards, and named the 4-year-old best in show at the Mohawk Valley Kennel Club's All-Breed Show.
"She's a great dog ... the nicest to come from my breeding stock," said Carol Rose of the win two Sundays ago in the New York State Armory.
