The state's top consumer watchdog says milk pricing in Albany County is in need of reform and pointed Tuesday to a study by his agency showing that prices - even within the same supermarket chain - fluctuate widely.
Richard Kessel, executive director of the state Consumer Protection Board, said a study of 14 supermarkets in Albany County in the last several days found that milk prices varied by location, by chain and even within the chain.
For example, the Price Chopper at Colvin Plaza in Albany charged $2.10 for a gallon of store-brand whole milk, while the chain's Madison Avenue supermarket in Albany ...
