If Michelangelo's famous "The David" had been sculpted with all the creative fire of a new cable miniseries on his life, it would hardly be worthy of a hood ornament on a used Chevy.
A sad waste of a rich topic sums up "A Season of Giants," the latest TNT miniseries airing Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m.
Part one of this meandering epic follows the exploits of the young Michelangelo Buonarroti (Mark Frankel) up until his work on "The David." The conclusion tracks events leading to the painting of the Sistine Chapel, with all the attending artistic and romantic rivalries in 16th- century Florence.
