A 22-year-old woman who is several months pregnant was sentenced to 90 days in the Saratoga County Jail Thursday after pleading guilty to violating her probation.
The fact that Lydia A. Kessner, of 59 Van Dam St., is pregnant came up during discussion just prior to her sentencing by City Court Judge Douglas Mills.
Mills alerted county jail officials regarding Kessner's condition, but said being pregnant was not sufficient grounds to exclude incarcerating her.
"I've made sure that she is taken care of and is given proper medical attention," Mills said. "Something like this is not that unusual. It occasionally comes up."
