Now that the holidays are over, take a good look at your dining room.
Is it used only for festive dinners a few times a year? Does it stand idle, waiting to be dusted from time to time?
If so, resolve to get double duty from it this year.
New York designer Michael Love, who specializes in adaptive reuse of interiors, says the dining room is the least effectively used room in the home.
"The dining room has too long been regarded as a repository for fine furniture, delicate fabrics and collectibles - off-limits beyond the dinner hour and special occasions," Love said.
