Florence Heyerdahl's Bible, the one she's had "since the Year One," is swollen with holy cards, snapshots, newspaper clippings and note-covered envelopes, all bound with a rubber band.
"It's the Book of the Dead. Isn't that what you call your Bible?" asked the 89-year-old keeper of family - and Ushers - history.
From it she pulled a square of paper listing the names of relatives and, in orderly handwritten columns, the dates of their births and deaths. Her father, Alfred J. Gregoire, for instance, died April 15, 1960.
