Albany County Democratic Chairman Harold Joyce accomplished a rare feat last week: He made a series of key appointments that gave all but insurgent Democrats little reason to complain.
At a time when Democrats are sniping at each other with increasing frequency, the accomplishment was no small task.
Alderman Gerald Jennings and his political rival, Mayor Thomas M. Whalen, were both singing Joyce's praise. County Executive James J. Coyne Jr. and his most vocal critic in recent weeks, state Sen. Howard Nolan, also had nothing but good words for Joyce's moves.
