Eleven months after Bishop Howard Hubbard ordered the city's three parishes consolidated, the anger and distress exhibited by the Concerned Catholics of Hudson over how and where they worship seems as deep as ever.
The emotion welled up again Thursday night when Hubbard met face-to-face with parishioners and defended his loyalty to Pope John Paul II and to Roman Catholic teachings.
"I had no intentions of questioning the bishop's loyalty," Thomas Fisher, president of the Concerned Catholics, said Friday. "I just wanted him to answer the question of his stance compared to the Pope's stance."
