Nothing lasts forever. After a decade and a half, even a classic such as California's Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel needed some fresh thinking. "This was not a renovation as much as a major market-research based repositioning project," says Laurence Geller, president and CEO, Strategic Hotels & Resorts, the Chicago-based owner of the 393-room, 5-star icon.
