New Jersey recognises civil unions between gay couples
New York, Dec. 22 (PTI) New Jersey became the third State in the United States to recognize civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, giving them all rights and responsibilities of a married couple but without the title of marriage.
Governor Jon S. Corzine yesterday signed into law a legislation to institute civil unions, saying many gay and lesbian couples are in committed relationships and therefore deserve to enjoy same benefits and rights as every other family partnership.
