'Tis the season of peace and good will toward men. Here is what one city family, and a Dorchester activist, are doing for peace just down the block from where Isaura Mendes lost not one but two young sons to murder. In fact, as you enter the Grealish Boxing Club at night, you can see the single string of white Christmas lights on the porch of Mendes' home.
Kayla Binger, 11, takes the bus from Blue Hill Avenue as many nights as she can to work out at the Grealish Boxing Club. She's learning from another female fighter, now retired, Nikki Grealish, 26. "My mom says she can trust people here," says the little girl beside her brother, ...
