IT'S CERTAINLY no secret that the cigarette lighter in the cab of your 4x4 can serve as a power outlet for a variety of plug-in 12-volt accessories. But recently the number and variety of products designed to use this power source has mushroomed, and vehicle manufacturers have picked up on the trend.
As a result, many vehicles now feature additional dedicated power-accessory outlets. For example, the cigarette lighter in the new GMC Truck Sonoma pickup is flanked by a pair of power outlets, and the redesigned Subaru Legacy Outback all-whell-drive station wagon due out this fall will offer a power outlet mounted in the left interior panel near the rear lift gate. ...
