Dec. 28--For the most part, the St. Joseph's Hawks have made themselves feel comfortable at Madison Square Garden, where they will play Hofstra tonight in the four-team Holiday Festival. Twice since Phil Martelli became head coach 12 seasons ago, St. Joe's has advanced to the NIT championship game at the Garden. The Hawks began their memorable rise to No. 1 in the polls with a victory over 10th-ranked Gonzaga at the Garden to open the 2003-04 season, and last season knocked off Kansas in the Jimmy V Classic there as well.
