WASHINGTON -- The chances of Congress passing any pending oil industry legislation this session are fading daily, Capitol Hill sources say.

The one issue the oil industry was most optimistic about -- lifting of the ban on Alaska North Slope (ANS) crude exports -- most likely will be delayed until next session, according to a Capitol Hill source. There simply isn't enough time to act on the matter, he said.

Another source disagreed, saying that there will be "windows of opportunity" to consider the Export Administration Act (EAA) in the midst of discussions on other major issues.
