ONE of the pilots killed in the More-cambe Bay helicopter crash helped launch the North Wales air ambulance service three years ago.
Simon Foddering moved to Lancashire last year to work for the North West Air Ambulance before joining helicopter operator CHC Europe at its Blackpool Airport base.
Last night former colleagues paid tribute to the popular 33-year old dad-of-two who formerly served in the Army.
Mark Timmins, who oversees the Air Ambulance operation in North Wales, was a close friend.
