Dec. 30--FORT WALTON BEACH -- Fort Walton Beach's boys didn't need a victory in their final pool play game to advance to the championship game of the Southern Resorts Beach Blowout. Even so, the Vikings rode the inside presence of Carl Richardson and Nathan Robinson to a 65-27 victory over Faith Christian. On the flip side, the Fort Walton Beach girls needed a win against Graves County to assure themselves of a spot in the title game. They didn't get it, falling 36-32, but managed to reach the title game anyway by winning a three-way draw with Davidson and Graves County. "It was lucky," Viking girls coach Holly McDaniel said. ...
