No matter how hard we try we can never be certain that a natural disaster won't strike, or a virus won't take down IT systems, but on the positive side, Irish companies are taking business continuity more seriously than their European counterparts.
With the finance sector, one has to only look at the events surrounding September 11, Hurricane Katrina and the London Bombings, to see how important it is for companies to ensure that they have effective business continuity plans in place. Post 9/11, the finance industry was shocked into realising the value of business continuity.
