Paradise Valley Hospital has terminated its contract with Molina Healthcare Inc., known for providing health coverage for the working poor. According to the California Department of Managed Care, the contract was terminated by the hospital Nov. 21.
Medi-Cal patients numbering 9,400 accustomed to going to National City hospital will be referred to Alvarado Hospital Medical Center in eastern San Diego, the department said.
Rosemary Pinpin, regional director at Long Beach-based Molina Healthcare, said the contract was being renegotiated before Paradise Valley announced plans in November to sell to for-profit Prime Healthcare Services Inc.
