It didn't take Douglas Bucher, an associate with the architectural firm of Mesick, Cohen and Waite, long to decide that he wanted to buy a house in the same neigborhood that he had been renting in.

"I lived in an apartment in the same building occupied by the Rensselaer County Historical Society on Second Street and I knew that I wanted to stay in that neighborhood," said Bucher, who gives talks on historic interiors, especially those in Troy. "So I kept watching for any properties that came on the market.'
