Paper towels lead a brief and unglamorous life. They're typically called upon to scour a dirty oven, sop up a kitchen spill or wipe a window - and then within moments they're disposed of. But to perform those seemingly unexacting tasks, paper towels need several disparate qualities. Even when wet, they should stand up to scrubbing without falling apart. They should be absorbent. And they shouldn't leave behind unsightly lint.
