It's no secret that the cost of living in New York is high. Housing is steep, so are taxes, and you've got to shell out bales of money to heat your home in the winter.

But what about the cost of dying in the Empire State?

Precise comparisons are hard to come by, but New York does have some unique regulations that essentially force people to hire funeral directors upon the death of a loved one.
